Jim Ryan brings over 25 years of business experience with publicly held and privately owned firms. Jim has been a shareholder and business partner of Lehigh Valley Restaurant Group since it’s founding in 1992. Jim succeeded Stephen Hanzlik, the founder and the CEO, after his passing in January 2010. In his role as CEO, Jim provides the strategic leadership for the company inclusive of the ongoing growth and development plans.
Jim spent sixteen years in operations, marketing, and field service roles at Applied Materials in Santa Clara, California. During his tenure at Applied, Jim rose to executive level positions with global responsibility in operations in the U.S., Japan, Korea, and Europe for product divisions ranging from $100M to $1B in annual sales. After relocating his family back to the Lehigh Valley in the late 90’s, Jim became the Chief Operating Officer for an early stage fixed wireless broadband provider in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Immediately prior to stepping in as CEO of LVRG, Jim was an executive at Wall Street West in Bethlehem where he led efforts to attract New York financial services firms to locate data centers and back office operations in northeastern Pennsylvania.
Jim is a native of the Lehigh Valley and graduated from Lehigh University with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Jim served as an officer in the United States Navy onboard a fast attack nuclear submarine after his college days. In addition, he completed his MBA at Santa Clara University. In his spare time Jim enjoys boating and the outdoors with his family, and an occasional round of golf.
